After all the drama, speculation and debate Lionel Messi will stay with FC Barcelona for the 2020-2021 season. Messi returned to training with Barcelona on Monday, almost two weeks after he told the club he wanted to leave. He began practicing individually because he needs a second coronavirus test before rejoining his teammates.

The FutureBarcelona is expected to let several aging veterans go including Luis Suarez, Arturo Vidal and Samuel Umtiti. However, Messi remained a big part of new manager Ronald Koeman’s plans. Messi said in an Instagram post, he would give it his all for the club of his dreams in 2020-2021. With that said, expect this season to be the farewell tour for Messi. It is never a good scenario for a club when a player is there that doesn’t want to be. While it could be the beginning of a disastrous season for Barcelona, expect it to be the last year Messi plays for the Catalan giants.
