Leicester City Fought Hard to Bring me here – Jordan Ayew
Jordan Ayew has shared his appreciation for Leicester City commitment, and fought for his transfer, marking his return to work with manager Steve Cooper at the King Power Stadium.
The former Crystal Palace striker inked a two-year contract with the Foxes on Friday, with the Eagles receiving a fee of £5 million for the transfer.
Reflecting on the move, the 32-year-old Ghanaian forward stated, “I’m thrilled to be here and feel a sense of pride. I want to extend my thanks to the Club for their relentless efforts in bringing me on board – it all happened so swiftly, and I couldn’t be happier. As a player, knowing that the manager is eager to have you on the team motivates you to come in and strive for improvement.”
Ayew, now joining his fourth Premier League club, brings a wealth of experience to Leicester as they aim to retain their place in the top flight after winning the Championship last season.
Jordan Ayew joins Leicester from Palace
Jordan Ayew, the Black Stars striker, has officially made his move from Crystal Palace to Leicester City, continuing his journey in the Premier League.
The talented forward, who previously played for Aston Villa and Swansea City, is reported to have finalized a deal that brings around £5 million to the Eagles, with the potential for that figure to increase to £8 million.
On Friday, August 23, 2024, Leicester City Football Club announced on their official website, “We are delighted to welcome experienced striker Jordan Ayew from Crystal Palace on a two-year contract, pending FA and Premier League approval.”
Ayew has been an integral part of Crystal Palace since joining on loan in August 2018, later securing a permanent transfer in July 2019. Over his tenure at Selhurst Park, he made 212 appearances, netting 23 goals and assisting 22 times in all competitions.
However, with the arrival of new manager Oliver Glasner, Ayew’s influence has waned, as he found himself on the bench during Palace’s recent 2-1 loss to Brentford.

The former Olympic Marseille has played for Aston and Swansea City in the past and is expected to increase his tally of appearances as well as goals and assists.
I’m thrilled to be here and filled with pride. A huge thank you to the Club for their relentless efforts in bringing me on board – it all happened so swiftly, and I couldn’t be happier to join this team,” Ayew expressed with enthusiasm.
Jordan Ayew is set to reunite with Cooper and Issahaku. After clinching the Championship title, Leicester City is now gearing up to make a significant mark in the Premier League.
The club, once champions of the Premier League, recently parted ways with coach Enzo Maresca, who has taken a new role at Chelsea following a successful stint. Steve Cooper has stepped in as the new manager.
Cooper will reconnect with Jordan Ayew, who he previously guided at Swansea City. Moreover, Ayew will have the opportunity to team up with fellow Ghanaian Fatawu Issahaku, who has made his move to Leicester City permanent after a loan spell from Sporting CP last season.
Ayew is ready to join his new Leicester City teammates as they gear up for their Premier League clash against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday, August 24, with kick-off scheduled for 3 pm.

Internationally, Ayew is also recognised as one of Ghana’s most important players having featured for the Black Stars more than 100 times in a space of 14 years.
The Foxes, under the leadership of Enzo Maresca, are determined to solidify their position in the Premier League, and Ayew’s arrival is seen as a key part of that mission.
After their 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in their season opener, Leicester City will face Fulham on Saturday in their next Premier League fixture.
