I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve Ghana-Dampare

Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, former Inspector General of Police (IGP), has expressed his heartfelt thanks for the opportunity to serve Ghana, after his recent removal from office.

According to a statement released today March 14, 2025, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare expressed gratitude to God and Ghanaians for the prayers, support and blessings they provide throughout his term.

Dr. George Akuffo Dampare acknowledged the tremendous display of support  and words of comfort  from supporters in Ghana and beyond, especially in the past 24 hours.

Dr. Dampare acknowledged with gratitude to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for appointing him as the Inspector General of Police, a historic role that made him the youngest IGP of the Fourth Republic.

Moreover, he showed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for the collaborative partnership they shared during their short but meaningful time together. The former IGP further appreciated the prayers, counsel, and wisdom from religious and traditional leaders, as well as the teamwork and assistance from the leaders of partner security institutions. He also extended heartfelt thanks to the constructive input and encouragement from various civil society organizations.

In addition, he was grateful for the support, engagement, and feedback the  international community and diplomatic missions showed throughout his leadership.

Looking back on his 35 years of service in the Ghana Police Service, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare showed his appreciation for moving from the General Constable to Inspector General of Police.

Dr. George Akuffo Dampare declared his continued devotion to Ghana, pointing out that closing in on 55 years old, he is still energetic, disciplined, and committed to serving his country with ethics and excellence. Nana Osei Afrifa, the Executive Assistant, appended his signature on the statement.
