The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akufo Dampare, has assured the family of 24-year-old Lois Abena Koranteng, who was found dead at the CrisLord Palace Hotel in Takoradi, of an expedited and thorough investigation into her death.
Dr. Dampare personally visited the family on July 10, 2024, to convey his commitment to ensuring that the circumstances surrounding Koranteng’s tragic death are fully examined.
Lois Abena Koranteng reportedly checked into the CrisLord Palace Hotel on June 7, 2024, accompanied by her boss and another company staff member.
However, the following morning,she was found dead in the hotel’s swimming pool.
The investigation has been complicated by reports that the hotel’s CCTV cameras were not functioning during the week of the incident, raising concerns about the availability of critical evidence that could shed light on what transpired.
Henry Yeleduor, the Western Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, has confirmed that his office is actively collaborating with the police to investigate this unexplained incident.
The lack of CCTV footage has made it essential to rely on other forms of evidence and witness testimonies to piece together the events leading to Koranteng’s death.

The Ghana Police Service issued a statement on Thursday, July 11, detailing the steps being taken to ensure a comprehensive investigation.
According to the statement, the police have enlisted the expertise of a pathologist from the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to conduct an autopsy.
The autopsy report revealed that the cause of death was asphyxia, severe pulmonary edema, and drowning, indicating that Koranteng died from a combination of suffocation and drowning.
The police have committed to keeping the family informed of any developments in the case as the investigation progresses.
