Government reopens schools for JHS2 and SHS2 students
The government of Ghana reopens schools for JHS2 and SHS2 students. This was made public during the 16th National Address since the first COVID-19 case was recorded in Ghana.
Junior High and Senior High school 2 Students to resume school on October 5 – December 14 2020 to complete their Academic year exams.

The students will be in school for 10 weeks and will be served one hot meal a day.

To ensure that all safety protocols are observed by schools, the President said “Each school will be provided with Veronica Buckets, gallons of liquid soap, rolls or tissue paper, thermometer guns, and 200 milS containers of sanitizers. JHS 2 students will be given one hot meal a day.
The president also revealed that “The decision has been taken by the Ghana Education Service, after consultation with the relevant stakeholders, for SHS 2 and JHS 2 students to return to school from 5th October to 14th December 2020 to complete their academic year.”
Junior High Schools are to operate with class sizes of 30 pupils while Senior High Schools are permitted to have class sizes of 25.
All-day students in Senior High School 2 are expected to commute from home and respect in full the COVID-19 protocols.
What is not clear with the new directives is whether the students will also study for a maximum of 4 hours a day like their colleagues in JHS3 preparing for their examination scheduled for September 14-18 2020.
