Ghana To Play Four Friendlies Before World Cup 2026

The Black Stars of Ghana are set to play four international friendly matches before the 2026 World Cup after two matches were confirmed later last year.
The Ghana Football Association president, Kurt Edwin Simeone Okraku, has confirmed that the senior national soccer team, the Black Stars of Ghana, will be playing two additional international friendly games before the World Cup, with two matches already confirmed last year.
The Ghana Football Association confirmed last year that the Black Stars of will be facing Austria and Germany in the March international break to serve as preparations towards the 2026 Mundial.
Earlier this morning the GFA president Kurt Edwin Okraku told GTV Sports Plus that the Black Stars will be playing two additional friendly games, making it four in total, to help prepare the Black Stars for the 2026 World Cup with the said teams yet to be announced.
He again added that there will be new faces in the technical team for the 2026 World Cup. “When we qualified for the mundial in Qatar, the technical team was augmented. When we qualified for the AFCON, the technical team was augmented, and the same strategy will be repeated,” he told GTV Sports Plus.
He also added that Ghana vs. Panama at the World Cup matters most to him, and the game between Ghana and England could go either way. “The most important game for me is the game against Panama. I like Ghana against England, like the Hearts of Oak and Kotoko derby. No form guide: it could be anybody’s game.” he told GTV Sports Plus.
The Black Stars of Ghana qualified for the 2026 World Cup by securing pole position in Group I after accumulating a total of 25 points. And were drawn in group L with teams like England Croatia and Panama. Ghana will be playing their first game at the World Cup with Panama before playing England and Croatia, respectively.
