Four people have lost their lives in a fatal road accident on Christmas Eve at Twifo Ntafrewaso on the Cape Coast–Twifo Praso road. DOII Abdul Wasiu Hudu, who is the Central Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, said on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, the Twifo Praso Fire Station got an emergency call at about 4:48 pm on reporting a road accident at Twifo Ntafrewaso. DOII Abdul Wasiu Hudu said a rescue team was sent to the scene immediately.
On arrival, DOII Abdul Wasiu Hudu said the team discovered that a Hyundai Getz with registration number GW 7715-25, which was being used for business purposes, had gone off the road and crashed into a tree in a nearby bushon its way from Twifo Mampong to Twifo Praso. DOII Abdul Wasiu Hudu stated that three people were stuck in the crash and were pulled out by the crew and transported to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
As per DOII Abdul Wasiu Hudu, before the rescue team got to the place, one person had already been rescued by civilians and rushed to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital, where the person was also confirmed dead.
DOII Abdul Wasiu Hudu said eyewitnesses at the scene revealed that the driver was over speeding and at the same time he was also negotiating a curve on the rainy afternoon and this caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. He said the vehicle was totally smashed up from the crash.
He drew to attention that the incident brought up worries again about speeding and road safety, especially during festive periods when there is a lot of traffic on the road. He encouraged motorists to be very careful and they should also reduce speed and adhere stick closely to road safety regulations to prevent people from loosing their lives.
