Background: Farmers Care Programme
The Farmers Care Programme, held at the YKMFA Conference Hall at Yilo Krobo Senior High School in Somanya, brought together approximately 300 mango farmers and key agricultural stakeholders.
The full-day capacity-building initiative focused on strengthening farmers’ knowledge in land rights, agribusiness finance, agrochemical safety, and innovative agri-entrepreneurship to promote sustainable agriculture and rural development.
During the programme, Dr. Wemakor underscored the importance of secure land tenure, educating farmers on Ghana’s land ownership systems and relevant legal frameworks, including the Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036).
He encouraged farmers to document land transactions, register lands with the appropriate authorities, and seek legal advice before entering agreements.
Other presentations were delivered by representatives from the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), who emphasized prudent financial management and the safe handling of agrochemicals respectively.
Commitment to Farmer Empowerment
Speaking during the brief ceremony in Accra, officials of Eminence Lead International reaffirmed their commitment to empowering farmers through knowledge-sharing, strategic partnerships and practical interventions aimed at strengthening Ghana’s agricultural value chain.
The honour conferred on Dr. Wemakor, they noted, reflects the organization’s appreciation for leaders and institutions that contribute meaningfully to sustainable agriculture, rural empowerment and food security in Ghana.
The Farmers Care Programme forms part of Eminence Lead International’s broader mission to promote inclusive economic development and community transformation across the country.
