Election 2020: Peace Massages, Fake Videos and Flaring Passions
What Peace Massage Do You Have For Ghanaians as we get ready for Election 2020?
All Ghana needs is a peaceful election. Election 2020 is here with us and the entire country is getting ready for the historic day, Monday, 7th December 2020. One key issue that needs to be considered by all is how we comport ourselves before, during, and after the election.
Ghana’s democratic credentials will be put to test once again and we have no option as a nation than to go through this election peacefully.
The peaceful election we yearn for demands our collective effort. Peace is all we need if we are to realize our individual and collective dreams. It is the tool that must lead every action and decision all stakeholders take from now onward if they have in any way failed to do so.
Peace messages have in recent times flooded our social media landscape, but what have you said in the form of a peaceful message or request from Ghanaians.
We challenge you to leave a Peace Message on this post for another Ghanaian to read. The more we talk about peace, write about it, encourage peace and think about its impact on our nation and lives, there more we are likely to appreciate the fact that this election is not about war, conflicts, and fighting one another but a battle of intelligent ideas and ways through which the various political parties intend to lead this nation if given the nod.

Fake videos have circulated on social media as well in the last few days, a few of them were thrown at the NewsGhana24.com social media handles. We sought to find out from people in our circles if they could detect old videos that painted some political parties in a negative light.
The findings showed that Ghanaians are alert and will be able to detect such videos when they are shared. Some comments received from those who saw the said videos were…
Just wasting our airtime. Cross-check your facts before posting…
These are some of the irresponsible videos the Peace Council is talking against. No verification, then we forward it.
This is not a new video, so it is false and a NO..NO for me…I just crossed checked with a friend in that party.
I am afraid,… this video is a no-no, it is very old and irrelevant in this year’s election.
No, please the ….party says this is an old video and nothing like this happened.
The above-sampled views are a strong indication that Ghanaians are vigilant enough to detect unverifiable videos if they emerge.
However, they are slow to preach peace openly and on social media platforms where a lot of engagements among supporters of the various political parties are intense amidst insults and flaring tempers.

It is important that we embrace peace, hold a peaceful election. Mere statements to be peaceful are not enough.
Our actions must speak loudest, and as political leaders radiate peace. Peace will trickle down to their supporters at all levels if they lead by example.
Election violence must not be entertained, and no one or individual should risk his life to embark on any action that will affect the beautiful and historical election contest of ideologies on December 7th, 2020.
As we go into the 2020 general elections, let us avoid the fake news, untrue footage, audio recordings, pictures, and comments that have the potential to endanger the peace and safety of this nation.
Africa is watching Ghana, to lead the continent’s democratic success stories once again, and the eyes of all the international media ad countries around the world are on us. We have an account to give to posterity if we fail to hold this country together during this election.
It is time to make Ghana the winner of the 2020 election, and it starts with peace. Lead the crusade, preach peace, show by your actions, and say no to violence. We stand for peace. We want a peaceful election, what about you?
