E-Gates to Arrive at Kotoka International Airport by End of 2024
Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has made an announcement to introduce E-Gates at Kotoka International Airport during his recent meeting with the clergy in Cape Coast on June 3rd 2024.
As part of the government’s efforts to digitize state institutions, Dr. Bawumia revealed that E-Gates will be installed at the Kotoka International Airport by the end of this year.
According to the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, these E-Gates will be introduced in the arrival part of the airport which will help preventing the need for travelers to undergo immigration checks upon arrival. This innovative technology will allow travelers to simply scan their Ghana card, and the E-Gates will open for them, allowing them to pass and enter the country with an ease.
Dr. Bawumia shed light on the government’s commitment to digitizing most state institutions to make them more accessible to Ghanaians.

He stated, “In fact, before the end of this year if you arrive in Ghana at Kotoka Airport you don’t need to go to an immigration officer, we are putting together the E-gates, you put in your Ghana card it will open for you, and you pass and enter. The E-gates will work in Ghana before the end of this year.”
The introduction of E-Gates is expected to streamline the arrival process at Kotoka International Airport, reducing wait times and making it easier for travelers to clear customs.
This is just one of many initiatives aimed at modernizing Ghana’s infrastructure and improving the overall travel experience for tourists and locals alike.
In addition to his announcement about E-Gates, Dr. Bawumia also expressed his desire to have an “open and frank discussion” with religious and faith-based organizations regarding school management, particularly focusing on discipline.
It is seen that the government is committed to engaging with various stakeholders and listening to their concerns as they work to improve education in Ghana.
As Dr. Bawumia embarks on his tour at Central Regional, it is exciting to see the innovative initiatives being implemented by the government.
The introduction of E-Gates at Kotoka International Airport is just one example of how technology can be used to improve daily life for our country starting at the end of this year 2024.
