DStv and GOtv subscribers get more value as cedi strengthens
Multichoice Ghana is offering big discounts on its DStv and GOtv services in response to customer requests and Ghana’s improving economy. The move is part of a new campaign that started on June 16 and will run until the end of July.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Corporate Affairs Manager Nii Amah Dagadu said the decision was based on feedback from subscribers and the recent strengthening of the Ghanaian cedi.
“As a listening brand, we’ve heard what customers have asked for,” he said. “The economy is rebounding, and we’ve seen how the cedi is performing against other world currencies. For that reason, we want to pass on the savings back to our customers.”
The promotion includes three main offers. First, the price of the high-performance DStv decoder has been cut from GH₵169 to GH₵89, making it more affordable for new users.
Second, all customers whether they are new, returning, or currently subscribed can enjoy a free package upgrade.
“Whatever package you choose, once you pay for it, we upgrade you to the next higher package,” Mr. Dagadu explained. “If you want Compact, pay for Family and we will give you Compact. If you want Premium, pay for Compact Plus and we will give you Premium.”
The third offer is for sports fans. For just GH₵99, subscribers can access all 63 matches of the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup through the lowest-priced sports package. This comes ahead of next year’s World Cup, for which SuperSport has full broadcast rights.
Customers on GOtv can enjoy the same upgrade benefits as DStv users. “The ‘We Got You’ offer is the upgrade that we’ve given to all subscribers,” he added. “And this is not just on DStv, it is also available on GOtv. So our GOtv subscribers… just pay for the package below that one and we will upgrade you to the next higher package.”
The promotion runs until July 31, with a promise of more exciting offers to come.
“This is the best time to get connected,” Mr. Dagadu encouraged.
