Deputy Education Minister Urges Students to Sustain Excellence at Independence Day Awards Luncheon

The Deputy Minister for Education, Hon. Clement Abas Apaak, has urged award-winning students to sustain excellence, discipline and resilience as they progress in their academic pursuits.
He made the call while addressing a luncheon in honour of the President’s Independence Day Awards winners held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra on Wednesday March 4, 2026.
Hon. Apaak congratulated the 52 outstanding students who distinguished themselves in the 325 Basic Education Certificate Examinations, describing their achievements as the result of hard work, consistency, and determination.
“You represent diverse backgrounds, schools, districts and regions, yet share one defining quality – a commitment to excellence,” he said.
The Deputy Minister also commended parents, teachers, school leaders and Ministry officials for their support, noting that behind every successful child stands a pillar of encouragement and guidance.
He encouraged students to remain humble, disciplined and focused as they advance to senior high school, tertiary education, and future careers.
Hon. Apaak added that the Ministry of Education remains committed to ensuring quality, equitable and accessible education for all Ghanaian children through targeted interventions and teacher motivation programmes.
He further extended appreciation to board members, educators and sponsors for their contribution to the programme, urging students to leverage their opportunities and continue excelling in their endeavours.
The luncheon forms part of Ghana’s Independence Day celebrations, which recognize exceptional achievements in education and national development.
