Delayed NSS allowance for November and December paid; two months pending

After months of delay by the NSS and agitations by service personnel, the delayed arrears allowance for two months has been paid out of the four months pending.
The payment of the November and December delayed allowance was communicated to personnel on March 13, 2024, by the NSS.
The management of the National Service Secretariat (NSS) further indicated that it was doing everything possible to work on delayed allowances for January and February 2024 but did not give any indication as to when the pending delayed allowances would be settled.
In the statement announcing the payment of the delayed NSS allowances, the NSS directed all NSPs to check their balances with their E-Zwich cards on Friday, March 15, 2023.
It added that only personnel who have filled out, endorsed, and submitted their assessment forms for November and December 2023 and have also completed the required biometric verification at their respective NSS district offices can access the paid delayed allowances.
NSPs who do not meet the above basic requirements are likely not to be able to assess their allowances.
It further stated that for the personnel to access the allowances paid, they are to use their E-Zwich at their preferred banks from Friday, March 15, 2024.
What this means is that if the respective banks do not credit the accounts of the personnel by the 15th of March, they will not be able to access the funds until Monday, March 18th.
The management of the service said it understands the challenges personnel went through as a result of the delays in the payment of the allowances and that it has taken steps to ensure it pays January and February arrears.
The NSS was optimistic that it will take proactive steps to avoid delays in the coming months and also ensure that pending delayed allowances for January and February are also paid soon.
While expressing regret for the delays in processing the allowances, it commended the personnel for their unwavering dedication to duty.
