Coverage of Free SHS to be Expanded to include TVET Institution Freshers; Akuffo Addo Reveals

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, made some key statements during his speech at the Independence Day Awards ceremony.
The ceremony was held on Wednesday March 2,2022.
His Excellency made it very clear the intentions of the current NPP government to invest in education to enable the government to increase literacy in the country to achieve the objective of Industrialization.
There was much focus on the sciences and technical and vocational courses and programmes. One main way to achieve the objective is to expand the free SHS programme to include first years of Public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in the country.
He also revealed government’s projects to construct 20 science and technology centers and 9 model senior high schools.
