Church Of Pentecost Fined For Organizing Clean-Up Exercise

The Church of Pentecost has been slapped with a fined for organizing a cleanup exercise. According to source, the fine was imposed on the Church by the chiefs and elders of the community where the clean up was organized. As weird as it will sound, the local authorities has their own reason for punishing the church for acting in the best interest of the community.

This odd occurrence took place at the Pankese branch of the Church of Pentecost. Pankese is a town situated in Nkawkaw, Eastern region of Ghana.

The church landed itself in trouble because, according to the chief and elders of the area, the leadership of the church failed to inform or notify them of their planned cleaning exercise.

As their punishment, for failing to communicate their good intensions to the elders, they were fined GH¢100.00 and 2 bottles of schnapps.

However on the issue of notification, the unit committee chairman of the area, MR. ERIC BOAFO in an interview with Life Fm said he was so much disappointed in the traditional leadership and the action they took on this matter.

He feels that, the decision to impose a fine on the Church of Pentecost is just a gross display of power. He sees the action as needless compared to the work and sacrifices the church made to clean mountains of filth, fecal matter cleared by the members of the church all in the best interest of the community.

Earlier in the year, the Church of Pentecost launched a nationwide campaign dubbed “Environmental Care Campaign” which was aimed at complementing the efforts of government and Zoom lion to improve on sanitation in the country.

Reactions on the fine by the Sanaahene of Pankese, NANA KWADWO OWUSU are that, the leadership of the church notified all appropriate authorities. They went as far as informing the Unit committee members of their intensions and but deliberately disregarding owners of the town was disrespectful hence the action.
