Coronavirus: Change 2020 WASSCE Date -Teachers Unions
Teachers unions call for a change of 2020 WASSCE date for the examination which kicks starts in a few days. The call comes in the wake of the infamous coronavirus pandemic.

According to the press release by the three teacher unions some 397500 BECE students and teachers are at risk of contracting the deadly disease because they are still attending school after the government had declared all schools to shut down indefinitely.

(NAGRAT) National Association of Graduate Teachers (Ghana), Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), (TEWU) Teachers and Educational Workers Union (Ghana) and Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana- The CCT all signed the press release.
The unions believe that a change of the WASSCE 2020 time table will be a proactive step toward safeguarding the lives of students, teachers, families and the Ghanaian people at large.

(GNAT) and all the other teacher unions hold the view that the continuous converging of BECE 2020 and WASSCE 2020 exams students could be an incubation opportunity for the COVID-19.

The unions have called on the government to include JHS and SHS final year students in the closure or shut down of schools’ directive to avert any ailment spread.

It also requested that the government should engage WAEC and member states of the West African Examination Council to reschedule the WASSCE 2020 exams based on the current circumstances around Africa and the world in the Coronavirus Pandemic.
