COVID-19: How Safe Are Live Match And Sports Betting Venues As Football Made In Germany (Bundesliga) bounces back
How Safe Are Live Match and Sports Betting Venues As Football Made In Germany (Bundesliga) bounces back? Football is back, betting is back, live match centers are back but coronavirus posses a risk no one is talking about. The return of football means the return of betting and the return of many fans of football to live match venues to watch live matches they have been denied for many weeks. It also means many trooping to sports betting venues to place bets. This does not look promising as we battle coronavirus.
Today, German football will lead the way back into the full flight after weeks of forced coronavirus outbreak. We must be asking ourselves in Ghana whether we have as a nation looked in this direction as it has the potential to create problems? For now, it is only the social distancing protocol and the keeping of hygienic conditions at the highest level that is available, but will they be observed?
Live Match and Sports Betting centers have a lot to do to ensure their customers are safe. But the Live Match Centres will have to probably close their venues because they can not assemble people. An act such as this will be against the social gathering prohibitions of the various countries, including Ghana.
The excitement in the air in Ghana among the teeming youth who love European football and sports betting is high but we must take a critical look at the dangers loose safety systems will have on Ghana’s coronavirus cases should this lead to the second wave of outbreak.
Although customers could place their bets from their phones and home, it is highly impossible for many to get the opportunity to watch the matches if they do not go to live match centers which are often overcrowded on match days.
The honour lies on operators of such facilities to take extra precautions, limit the numbers who can access their live game center, however, how will such business break-even if they do not get the numbers. To remain safe, they must not open live match centers.
The police service must deploy officers to check on sport betting offices and football match centers to inform themselves on the next critical line of action to take.
