Asantehene to Dr. Opoku Prempeh: Adhere to Dr. Bawumia’s Instructions

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged the running mate of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to adhere to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s instructions.

The advice was given during a brief ceremony at Manhyia, where Dr. Opoku Prempeh was introduced to the Asantehene.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II emphasized that Dr. Bawumia should not regret choosing Dr. Opoku Prempeh as his running mate, stating that he has had the opportunity to watch him grow and develop. “I have watched Opoku Prempeh grow.

Don’t let Dr. Bawumia regret choosing you. Serve with humility,” the Asantehene advised.

In addition, the Asantehene encouraged Dr. Opoku Prempeh to feel free to seek guidance from him whenever necessary, even if Dr. Bawumia goes wrong.

“Whatever mistake comes, let me know so I can correct him,” Otumfuo said.

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh was recently selected by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as his running mate for the 2024 general elections, a decision that has been endorsed by the National Council of the NPP.

In his acceptance statement, Dr. Opoku Prempeh expressed his commitment to supporting Dr. Bawumia in achieving the party’s “Breaking the 8” agenda, which aims to break the 8-year cycle of power held by the NDC since 2001.
