An ATM card swapper was nabbed during the Diaspora Summit

The Accra Central Division Police Command has revealed the arrest of someone believed to be stealing repeatedly, who was on its wanted list, during the an important Diaspora gathering this year (2025) which took place at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
Reagan Kwesi Egbi Addo, the suspect, also known as Morgan Addo, was secretly tracked and arrested after secretly entering the event. The action of the Police action was triggered by previous reports from participants at previous AICC events concerning thefts of mobile phones, iPads, and credit cards.The police stated that “Consequently, an undercover operation was mounted at the venue to enhance surveillance and ensure the safety of participants.” Whiles the summit was going on Friday, December 19, 2025, the officers recognized and arrested Addo. This was when he was found wearing an official summit tag and “posing as a legitimate participant.”
The release drew to attention that “upon questioning, he failed to provide a credible explanation for his presence at the event” and that was the reason why he was arrested by the police. Further investigations shows a sophisticated operator. The suspect is said to focus on stealing ATM cards through deception. The police revealed that “He allegedly manipulates situations at ATM locations to make transactions difficult for users, after which he approaches victims under the pretext of offering assistance and swaps their ATM cards.” He is believed to have withdrawn unspecified sums using stolen cards at various ATMs.
The method of Reagan Kwesi Egbi Addo extended to conferences, where he is suspected of “stealing ATM cards and other valuables during conference meetings by checking participants’ bags and laptops, expecially during breaks.”
Further investigations further shows that the Reagan Kwesi Egbi Addo always get access to the summit which is facilitated by its open registration policy. The event organiser, who was contacted by police, explained that “registration for the Diaspora Summit 2025 was conducted online and open to the general public without restrictions, which made it possible for the suspect to register and gain access to the event.”
