PwC Ghana Head Says 2026 Budget Meets Expectations

Vish Ashiagbor, the Country Senior Partner at PwC Ghana, said that the 2026 Budget is a “satisfactory” budget which provides practical balance between sustaining economic stability and supporting growth.
During the time Vish Ashiagbor was speaking to JoyBusiness on the sidelines of the PwC Post-Budget Forum, he stated that the 2026 Budget clearly indicates how governments wants to build on progress made over the past years. Vish Ashiagbor made it clear that “Overall, I said the 2026 Budget is a satisfactory budget. This is because the budget provides a fair balance between making the economy stable and supporting growth.”
As per the Country Senior Partner of PwC, even though there are still problems especially in driving compliance and getting more people to contribute to taxes. He said that if this 2026 Budget is effectively implemented, it will help strengthen the recovery process of the economy. He also made emphasis on the importance execution by saying that the announcement of the police alone won’t give the results we want but when agencies and the ministries work effectively, we will meet our target.
Vish Ashiagbor added that “The outlined intentions are good, but as always, the real issue is the implementation. We need to ensure that the institutions who are responsible should deliver according to the target set.”
He again said that the private sector will be paying attention on the way the government will put plans in actions in the company months especially the changes in how taxes are collected and managed, the rationalization of expenditure and helping local business.
The 2026 Budget, whcih was presented in parliament last week is likely to support the ongoing attempt of Ghana to manage spending and reduce debt.
