Facebook community connect is holding an important Discussion with Black Community Leaders.

We assume this to be in line with the effort of the giant tech business to help bridge the gap created by several centuries of actions and decisions that have not favoured the blacks and black communities in many developed countries and to give them a voice.

The company in a post revealed that the Discussion with Black Community Leaders will be held online. This event will be a 45-minute discussion live on the Facebook Community Page in English on June 25 at 9 a.m. Pacific Time.

The publication said, “The panel discussion will be led and moderated by Latasha Morrison of Be The Bridge, a community started to create brave spaces online and offline for diverse groups to discuss and learn about race. Our three participants include Marquita Thomas of Black Lesbians, Curtis Webster Jr. of Dads Married to Doctors Group (DMD) and Mirna Valerio of FATGIRLRUNNING.

Facebook and its commitment to equality for all races and colour has become very encouraging since Goerge Floyd’s murder in America. On 17th June 2020, Facebook used the day to commemorate the liberation of the last enslaved African Americans which took place some 155 years ago on June 19, 1865.

Facebook in its statement said, “We are elevating Black voices within our community, as well as the many Black communities on Facebook.”

It has also moved a step further to create a new destination in its Facebook app called Lift Black Voices.

The aim of the Lift Black Voices according to Facebook is “To to amplify Black perspectives, share educational resources, and inspire people to take action through fundraising for racial justice”
