Teachers Biometric Registration: IPPD coordinators ‘alleged’ to be charging unapproved fees

Information trickling in points to the charging and collection of unapproved fees from newly trained teachers who officially started the teachers biometric registration today.

It has been alleged that PPD coordinators are spearheading the collection of the illegal fees.

Information gathered also revealed that, while teachers in the some districts are paying GH¢50.00, those in Jaman North are alleged to be paying GH¢15.00.

It has also been alleged that IPPD coordinators in Brong Ahafo are also engaged in a similar activity.

All these, if true, may be happening at the blind side of the GES and the MoE.

It is important that these unacceptable fees alleged are investigated and brought to the notice of Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Please the IPPD coordinators in Brong Ahafo are taking money from the newly trained teachers before allowing them to undergo their biometric registration.
Meanwhile they have taken money from them already. In Atebubu Amantin Municipal, they paid 100gh¢ each before their details were submitted to the regional office.

Teachers who are to register in Sunyani have also alleged similar requests have been made.

According to the information gathered, teachers are being told to make the payments for onward transfer to officers who will be doing the registration in the districts.

However, the question is, in this country must everyone take advantage of others while performing their duties for which they are paid?

We anticipate that the Government allocates resources for the transportation, bedding and feeding of these officers for such registration processes. Must they engage in siphoning money from teachers?
