Gospel Singer Commits Suicide
Shock rocked the Christian community when news broke that, a gospel singer whose name has been given as Michael Arowosaiye has committed suicide. Before the sad event, he was a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Michael Arowosaiye, has allegedly committed suicide.
According to sources, he handed himself with a belt at his residence in Sunnyvale Estate, Lokogoma District, Abuja. It is alleged that he was depressed and the last time he ministered was at the youth praise event organized by the church some few weeks ago.
The Nigerian police have confirmed the incident through ASP Gajere Danjuma. , Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, who serves as the head of the public relations officer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, the young man, had left the church before the incident. He added that it is so painful to know this is what has happened and not whether he was still a member of the church or not. He sympathized with the family for the loss.
Michael was once a singer at the Abuja parish of the church but left to join another church, Shepherdhill Ministry and rose to the post of a choirmaster at the new church where he worshiped.
Pastor Olaitan also added that members of the various branches of the church benefit through the assistance they receive from the church and since he was no longer a member, he could not get their help in his time of stress.
It is not so clear now, what the personal problems were and to what extent they affected him for him to take his life. This act has impacted the Christian community in Nigeria especially Lokogoma District in Abuja where residents woke up to the sad news.
