Mata becomes free agent
Mata, who was a member of United from 2014 until 2022, has recently been seen wearing Red Devils training attire again. He is doing so in order to promote the upcoming 2024 pre-season tour in the USA.
Currently, the Spanish player is in San Diego, where he is visiting schools and hospitals. Additionally, he is organizing training sessions for young players and taking the time to sign autographs.

Juan Mata mentioned, “During our visit, we will be going to various soccer schools and hospitals,” as stated on the official club website. “We aim to make the most of these three or four days that we will spend here.
“It is crucial for a footballer to familiarize themselves with the surroundings and engage with soccer enthusiasts, which is beneficial for both Manchester United and myself.
“I am thrilled to be in San Diego, a beautiful place. I am also eagerly anticipating the match. Playing in front of the US fans for United has always been a wonderful experience.
“I have fond memories of many amazing stadiums and moments with them, so hopefully this will be another one to add to the list.”

Back in United gear
United’s upcoming pre-season tour in the US will include matches against Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool. One of the cities where Erik ten Hag’s team will compete is San Diego, where they will face Betis on August 1.
The friendly match is scheduled to take place at the Snapdragon Stadium, with a seating capacity of 35,000. Interestingly, the same sponsor will be displayed on the front of United’s kit for the 2024/25 season.

Mata, the ex-Manchester United midfielder, is currently not affiliated with any club since his departure from Vissel Kobe in Japan in January.
As per MEN, Mata had expressed his desire to become a United ambassador after retiring from professional football. This aspiration might be coming to fruition considering the role he has assumed in San Diego.
