The primary objective of the meeting was to discuss challenges of football development in the Oti Region and to propose strategic initiative for talent identification.
The meeting deliberated on cultivating mutually beneficial relationships between the Volta FA and the Oti Region—whose football programs operate within the legal framework of the Volta FA—and to bring in the various District FA leaders to the Regional Minister. Chairman Agbogah was accompanied by his Vice Chairman, Mr. Caesar Heh.
During the meeting, Mr. Agbogah commended the outstanding work of Hon. Gyapong on his appointment and conducted a formal introduction of the leadership of the District FAs from Krachi East, Krachi West, Kadjebi, Biakoye, Nkwanta South, and Nkwanta North.
Among other issues pointed out, the chairman briefed the minister on regional football achievements and outlined a strategic framework in preparation for the inter-district juvenile championship for boys and girls under the ages of 17 and 15.
He submitted a proposal for the introduction of the Regional Minister’s Cup in the Oti Region—a tournament aimed at promoting unity and enhance scouts’ ability to potential talents. Chairman Agbogah drew to attention to the problem facing football development in the region, including limited access to quality pitches and inadequate office space and equipment for the District Football Associations (DFAs).
He pointed out that “Honorable, one of the significant challenges affecting the development of the game in the region is the absence of quality playing fields, making football development difficult.” He sought government assistance through the minister to construct sports facilities across all districts in the Oti Region.
He added “We would be grateful if the government could assist us in building good football fields in each district in the Oti Region to enhance the development of the game.”
As a reply, Hon. Gyapong showed gratitude for the Volta FA and its executives for their good work in the region. Noting the issues highlighted by the FA chairman, he given assurance to them of his dedication to work hand in hand with the various District Chief Executives (DCEs) of the Oti Region to tackle the problems effectively.
He recounted memories of the golden days of football, which attracted big audiences during his time as a football administrator. Hon. Gyapong encouraged the regional FA leadership to undertake efforts to revitalize football’s former glory.
