The University of Media Arts and Communication Institute of Journalism, which has its main objective to train young men and women into the media workspace, earlier today officially introduced their new set of students to their academic journey. The vibrant ceremony was held on the campus of UniMAC-IJ in South Legon, and this event was seen to mark a significant milestone for all the freshers who were eager to start their academic journey with the institution.
The atmosphere surrounding this ceremony was electric as all fresh students were eager to officially begin their academic journey. Students, faculty members, and also the Vice Chancellor of UniMAC IJ all gathered in the school’s auditorium for the commencement of the ceremony. The matriculation ceremony commenced when the Vice Chancellor of UniMAC–IJ Prof Eric Opoku Mensah delivered his speech to the students, motivating them in the academic journey they will be embarking on. He also added on thanking parents and guardians for their selfless support and sacrifices that made it possible for them to be present at the ceremony. Prof Eric Opoku Mensah ended his speech by saying “Welcome to UniMAC once again, and we look forward to the great achievement we will bring to this esteemed institution. Thank You all and God bless you.”
Students recited the matriculation oath, making their pledge to uphold the values and traditions of the university. After the recitation of the oath, Vice Chancellor Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah officially admitted the students into the university and congratulated them once again. After the ceremony, we had some interviews with some of the fresh students at the university, and below is what some of them had to say.
Delis, a student pursuing diploma in communication studies, had this to say when being asked to share with us her experience about the matriculation ceremony: “For the matriculation, I will say it was ok. I didn’t come early, but when I came, I saw they were happy and taking pictures. It was very nice.”
Victoria, a student of UniMAC-IJ who took opportunity of the ongoing matriculation ceremony to sell her local drinks, also had this to say. “I can say the matriculation was very fantastic because today being Valentine’s Day from the initial stage, we were engaged with some love songs and messages, and all that makes the vibe nice, and then now I think we are having the Lebanese Embassy also interacting with us on the use of artificial intelligence on campus. So I think I will say it was really fantastic”.
