Teenage Girl Arrested for Setting Boyfriend’s Room on Fire after Breakup in New Nkusumkum

A 16-year-old girl, Rebecca Nyomi, was arrested for setting her ex-boyfriend’s room on fire in a fit of rage in the New Nkusumkum, a suburb of Mankessim, following breakup.

According to account from GhOne, the drama began when Nyomi visited her boyfriend, Samuel Agbobli, at his cornmeal shop to demand “chop money” after a confrontation at his workplace.

However, Agbobli had other plans and informed her that their relationship was over, citing infidelity as the reason.

Nyomi reportedly begged for forgiveness, but Agbobli refused, leading her to storm out of the shop.

Enraged and distraught, Nyomi returned to Agbobli’s room, where she used a spare key to gain entry.

She then set the room on fire, locking the doors and windows before returning to her own workplace.

It wasn’t until Agbobli received a phone call about the fire that he arrived to find his belongings destroyed.

Community members managed to extinguish the flames, but not before significant damage was done.

An eyewitness revealed that Nyomi had confided in her about the breakup and Agbobli’s treatment of her before the fire.

Nyomi has since admitted to starting the fire, claiming that she had also contributed to the purchase of the items in the room.

Agbobli confirmed the breakup but expressed shock at Nyomi’s extreme reaction.

The Assembly Member for New Nkusukum, Hon. Alhaji Alli Amoah Abubakuri, has condemned Nyomi’s actions and urged teenagers to avoid destructive behaviors in relationships.

“This is a wake-up call for our young people to learn from this incident,” he said. “There are better ways to deal with relationship issues than resorting to violence and destruction.”

Nyomi is currently assisting police with their investigation at the Mankessim Police Station following her apprehension by community members.

As authorities continue to probe the incident, it serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence and destructive behavior in relationships.

It is imperative that we come together as a community to support those affected by such incidents and promote healthy relationships among our youth.
