Nurses And Midwives pull-out of organised labour strike
The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association ( GRNMA) has declared that it wil not partake in the countrywide strike against galamsey announced by organised Labour.
The move following an emergency meeting by the National Council of GRNMA held on October 8, 2024.

According to statement issued on Wednesday, 9 , GRNMA stated it supports the cause behind the strike action as oppose to illegal small-scale mining called “galamsey” however, highlighted its obligations to continue providing healthcare services to Ghanaians.
“ The GRNMA and its members will not embark on the strike action announced by organised labour and as a result directs that all nurses and midwives remain at post and continue delivering safe ad quality health services to the good people of Ghana, “ section of the statement read.
The association further said that even though it will not join force with organised labour for the strike action, it still stand in solidarity with them in its stance against the devastating environmental and social impacts of illegal mining(galamsey).
“ The GRNMA solidarises with member trade unions and associations under organised labour in the fight against galamsey and will continue to advocate for stronger national intervention to curtail the galamsey menace in Ghana”, the statement added.
Moreover, the Hospital Pharmacists Association ( GHOSPA) nd the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) have declared that they will also not engage in the strike action.
As stated by the associations, meanwhile they stand in solidarity with organised labour in the fight against illegal small-scale mining, they have a significant role to play in delivering healthcare services to Ghanaians.
