Patient allegedly dumped in a bush; Ghana Health Service launches Investigation into the Report

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has launched an investigation into reports that a patient at the Winneba Trauma Hospital was allegedly dumped in the bush at Gomoa Ojobi in the Central Region.

According to reports, the patient had been hospitalized at the facility for about two months after an accident that left her with two broken legs and mental illness.

However, unlike other patients who receive care and support from their families, this patient’s family failed to show up, leaving her without any care or support.

An eyewitnesses have reported that the hospital’s ambulance was seen conveying the patient to the outskirts of Gomoa Ojobi, where she was allegedly left in a wheelchair in the bush.

The patient, who claimed to be from the town, was later found dead, with unconfirmed reports suggesting that she was spotted unresponsive days after the ambulance left.

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has swiftly responded to the incident, assuring the public that it is taking immediate action to investigate the matter and establish the authenticity or the otherwise of the reports.

The Service has urged the public to be patient, assuring that anyone found to be connected with this unfortunate incident will be severely dealt with in accordance with provisions of the Service’s Code of Conduct.

This incident is a stark reminder of the need for greater accountability and transparency in our healthcare facilities.

Patients entrust their care to healthcare providers, expecting them to prioritize their well-being and safety above all else.
