GES Begins National Deworming Exercise 2019 (KG to JHS)
The School Health Education Programme Unit (SHEP) of the Ghana Education Service, Partners and the Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) program of Ghana Health Service have begun a 4-day school-based deworming exercise as part of their annual activities.
The National deworming exercise is to control the prevalence of Schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted Helminthiasis in school children targeted at KG (5yrs) to JHS.

The Mass drug administration will be held in 178 Districts across the country and in 32,371 Basic schools.
The total number of students to reach is 6,134,934.07.
Prior to the drug administration, there were series of training for the SHEP coordinators in GES and NTP officers of GHS.
The Region and Districts involved were also educated and sensitized on the benefits of taking the drugs and the need to support their wards to take them.
