KNUST’s Joana Deladem Yabani’s suspected killer and boyfriend arrested
Daniel Tuffour, a 21-year-old KNUST student, has been suspected of being involved in the tragic killing of Joana Deladem Yabani, a final-year student in a bachelor of science in biological science.
The news that KNUST’s Joana Deladem Yabani’s suspected killer is her boyfriend has further sent shock waves across the KNUST campus. According to the school, the suspect resides in the same hostel as Joana. He was found wearing the same garment as the one in the crime, as revealed in the CCTV footage.
This has been retrieved as evidence. According to reports, there were visible marks of violence on the body when police thoroughly checked it, increasing suspicion that perhaps the late student did not die a natural death.
Daniel Tuffuor was picked up by the police after campus CCTV footage captured him engaged in a violent confrontation with the deceased, Joana Deladem Yabani.
Reports suggested that Joana fell on the ground during an altercation and after realising she was inactive, the suspect allegedly relocated her body close to the university’s Disability and Rehabilitation Centre, where she was later found. Security on campus has been significantly reinforced.
Over 50 police officers have been deployed across the university, with five mobile police patrol teams from the Anti-Robbery Squad and 34 patrol officers from the SWAT Unit in the Ashanti Region also assigned to enhance safety.
Additional security personnel have been stationed at key locations to improve vigilance.

The school has taken adequate measures to ensure safety in the school.They claim 80% of the school, including where the incident occurred, has been placed under surveillance. Students have been urged to walk in pairs or more at night, avoid dark areas and avoid holding valuable items at night to ensure safety in the school.
KNUST expresses its condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased Joana Deladem Yabani. Therefore, they have taken drastic measures to ensure justice for Deladem’s death. Currently, Daniel Tuffour is in police custody.
