Karim Zito Set To Be The New Head Coach Of Kumasi Asante Kotoko
In a groundbreaking news yesterday, Kumasi Asante Kotoko officially parted ways with their head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, after the disastrous performance from the club in recent times.
In a club statement released by Kumasi Asante Kotoko yesterday, it stated that Asante Kotoko has officially sacked head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum. “Asante Kotoko Sporting Club has this afternoon parted company with Head Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum. The decision was reached following a constructive discussion between both parties, with a shared understanding that it is in the best interest of the club at this time. We thank Coach Ogum for his dedication and service, and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors. We urge our supporters to remain calm and continue to support the club during this transition”. Some fans of the 2X CAF CL winners Kumasi Asante Kotoko had this to say on X after the news was out. “Damn! Isn’t it too hasty to dismiss him?” Another said, “I am disappointed … but I hope the next manager will be damn good, or else this decision will be a terrible one.” Another added, “At least let him finish the season.”
This decision was made by Asante Kotoko Sporting Club following the club’s poor performance in their recent games in the Ghana Premier League. Kumasi Asante Kotoko was leading in the Ghana Premier League before the round of 22 and 23 but lost these two fixtures to Accra Lions and Nations FC, respectively, moving to the 4th position in the league, with Bibiani Gold Stars in the first position. Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum’s second coming at the club was not the best, as his first season with Kotoko, he helped the Kumasi-based club win the Ghana Premier League title in the 2021/2022 league season.
Veteran journalist Shaban Mohammed on X, formerly Twitter, this morning posted that Dreams FC head coach and Asante Kotoko f0rmer coach Abdul Karim Zito is on his way to Kumasi to finalize his move to Asante Kotoko. It was not stated by Mohammed Shaban if the move is going to be a permanent deal or an interim deal.
