Justice Revived Foundation commends Ghana Police and Cyber Security Authority for arrest of pastor involved in child abuse

The Justice Revived Foundation (JRF) commends the professionalism, swift action, and coordinated efforts of the Ghana Police Service and the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) following the arrest of a pastor in Warraba, Cape Coast, Central Region, on 6th March 2026, for alleged defilement of a minor and the production and possession of child sexual abuse materials.
Reports indicate that the 45-year-old suspect, Ebenezer Konduah, is the lead pastor of Mahanaim Christian Centre in Ankaful, Cape Coast. It is further reported that he operated a Facebook account where he presented himself as a “trained gynaecologist” and an “international marriage counsellor.”
The prompt response by law enforcement and cyber security authorities demonstrates a strong and commendable commitment to protecting children, particularly in an era where abuse increasingly manifests through digital platforms. It also underscores that perpetrators will be held accountable, regardless of their status or position in society.
JRF particularly applauds the intelligence-led collaboration that led to the suspect’s apprehension and the commencement of legal proceedings. Crimes against children represent some of the gravest violations of human dignity and trust. When individuals in positions of spiritual, social, or moral authority exploit vulnerable persons, the harm extends far beyond the immediate victim to families, communities, and faith-based institutions. Such allegations must be handled with urgency, professionalism, and a victim-centred approach.
The Justice Revived Foundation reaffirms the guarantees provided under the 1992 Constitution of Ghana and the relevant provisions of the Children’s Act, 1998 (Act 560), which affirm that every child is entitled to safety, dignity, and protection from all forms of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The welfare and best interests of the child must be the paramount consideration in all matters concerning children.
In light of this constitutional and statutory mandate, JRF calls on parents, guardians, schools, religious institutions, and community leaders to remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding children, and to promptly report any suspected cases of abuse or exploitation to the appropriate authorities.
JRF further urges that investigations and the subsequent prosecution of this matter be pursued diligently and transparently, ensuring that justice is served and that the survivor receives the protection, care, and support necessary for healing and recovery.
We also call on faith-based organisations across the country to strengthen safeguarding and child-protection measures within their institutions, to ensure that places of worship remain safe environments for children and young people.
As an NGO whose mission centres on advocating for the rights and protection of women and children, JRF remains fully committed to promoting accountability, strengthening protective systems, and supporting all efforts aimed at upholding justice, human dignity, and the safety of vulnerable persons in society.
