HRRG and JRF demand justice for 13-year-old girl horribly gang-defiled by over 20 men in Madina

Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) and Justice Revived Foundation (JRF) are urgently calling for justice in the heartbreaking case of Ama, a 13-year-old student from Madina, Accra, who was allegedly gang-raped by over 20 individuals, including teenagers, starting in February 2025.
Ama, a pupil at Madina No. 3 School, is now pregnant and deeply traumatized.
She bravely identified 45-year-old mason Clement Kwame as the primary suspect, who allegedly lured her with false promises before orchestrating the horrific assaults with accomplices, some believed to be his friends.
Ama was also threatened to keep silent, delaying her ability to seek help.
The case is under investigation by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in Madina. While some arrests have been made, HRRG and JRF are alarmed that the key suspects, including Kwame, remain at large.
They urge authorities to:
Expedite the investigation with sensitivity toward Ama, arrest Clement Kwame and all involved suspects immediately, prosecute all perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law and provide Ama with comprehensive medical, psychological, and social support
HRRG and JRF stated, “We stand firmly for justice. Every child deserves safety, and those responsible for this horrific crime must face accountability.”
This case underscores the urgent need to protect children from sexual violence in Ghana.
The human rights organizations call on the government, civil society, and the public to strengthen child protection laws and create a safe environment for all children.
