Health Workers Coronavirus motivation package of three months tax holiday among others is worth commending.
The President, H.E Akufo-Addo announced this during his 5th address to the nation. He indicated that all health workers in the country will not pay taxes on their salaries for the next three months as part of the government’s incentive during the fight against coronavirus.
In addition, an extra allowance of 50 percent of basic salaries for the next three months will be enjoyed by all front line workers who are putting their lives on the line and leading the fight against the dreaded disease.

“Government has also decided that all health workers will not pay taxes on their emoluments for the next three months, ie, April, May and June. Furthermore, all front line health workers will receive an additional allowance of 50 per cent of their basic salary per month. That is for March, April, May and June,” the President said.
In addition to the above, he said the March allowance of the workers will be paid together with that of April.
The government of Ghana imposed a two-week lockdown of Accra and Kumasi Metropolitan Areas and the Kasoa area as measures to fight the disease. The decision became necessary because the were identified as hotspots for the coronavirus, Currently, COVID-19 has killed five persons and infected 214 as of April, 5.
Concerns of a possible extension of the lockdown in the affected areas was the biggest fear of many, however, President Akufo-Addo while addressing the nation, said the coming week would determine whether or not the extension will be possible.
The Three Months Tax Holiday is enough motivation to make health workers put in their best for mother Ghana and a step in the right direction.
