GHS 500,000 donation made: Otumfuo support Oguaa Education Trust Fund
His Royal Majesty, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has made a donation of Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢500,000) to establish the Oguaa Education Trust Fund in the Central Region.
The Oguaa Education Trust Fund is dedicated to support less privileged students in Cape Coast and its surrounding communities in pursuit of their educational goals.
The donation followed discussion between His Majesty, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, Paramount Chief of the Oguaa Traditional Area who initially proposed establishing a fund to support education in his traditional jurisdiction.

During his speech at the 60th Anniversary celebration of the Fetu Afahye festival and the 25th anniversary of Osabarima’s reign, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II made emphasis on the historical importance of Cape Coast as a hub for education in Ghana.
He highlighted the significance of the city, which has played an active role in shaping the country’s educational landscape, and asked continued leadership and innovation in educational sector in the country, building upon its rich legacy as the center of formal education in the Gold Coast.
“Education started in Cape Coast. Trade began here, and factories emerged here first before spreading to other parts of the country.
Cape Coast must continue to lead in both education and trade,” Otumfuo remarked.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II exhorted the people of Oguaa to come together to revitalize their city and overcome the challenges of underdevelopment.
He urged all Ghanaians to join this cause, stating that ‘education began here, and it must continue to flourish here.’
In expressing his heartfelt gratitude, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II was visibly touched by the generous donation. ‘Your kindness has left me without words,’ he said, his voice filled with emotion. ‘You are a true friend, and I am deeply thankful for your support.
We will ensure that the fund is used as intended and keep you informed of its progress every step of the way.'”

This follows his earlier donation of ¢500,000 to the Ga Traditional Council in June 2024 during a durbar hosted by the Ga Mantse, Nii Teiko Tsuru II, in the Greater Accra Region.
