Ghana Athletics suspend 2 coaches over allegations of abuse
It is alleged that two coaches with names Wisdom Loh and Jeffrey Nkrumah has been suspended by Ghana Athletics (GA) over the abuse of athletes.
The two coaches have also been forbidden from representing Ghana Athletics (GA) in any space concerning athletics in Ghana or at the International level.
The GA released a statement saying, the suspension was due to the affirmation of sexual abuse, in addition to an abuse of minors, which is not an appropriate thing to that because it does not meet the regulations of the Confederation of African Athletics and World Athletics.
The suspension will help the Ghana Athletics (GA) to carry appropriate measures and investigate about the alleged issue and know real truth.The GA is not please with what is moving about in the atmosphere.
The GA said the action corresponds with the rugged principles stated in the World Athletics Safeguarding Policy which pinpoint the security protection of athletes from ill treatment, abuse and harassment.
“Ghana Athletics is opening an extensive investigation and fact finding into allegations of abuse of athletes, including sexual abuse of minors. Sexual abuse of minors is a criminal offence under the laws of Ghana, by some local based coaches and so-called managers. The GA mostly refer cases of this sort to the World Athletics for guidance and how to go about in solving such allegations.
