The NPP government authority’s leader program, Free Senior High School (SHS), chances being ended should the proposed tax revenue raising strategy fail to work out; New Juaben Member of Parliament, Michael Okyere Baafi claims.
The government have made it clear their disinterest with the idea of seeking financial aid from the International Monetary Fund(IMF).
They claim the E-levy is the best alternative of funding projects and raising revenue.
Even so, a lot of interest groups have heavily opposed it and Michael Okyere insists it might lead to the eventual termination was of the Free shs programme.
The finance ministry claims revenue raised from the E-levy could well exceed GH¢6 billion annually which could raise the country’s tax-to-GDP from 13% to an estimated 16% or more.
