Four Personalities receive honorary doctorate degrees from GIMPA

Four people have received honorary doctorate degrees from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) for their contributions to national development.
Prof. Stephen Adei, the institute’s former Rector; Mrs. Grace Amey-Obeng, the CEO of FC Beauty Group Limited; Dr. Barfour Adjei-Barwuah, a diplomat; and Ernest Bediako Sampong, the CEO of Ernest Chemists Limited are the personalities in question.
Prof. Adei received a Doctor of Letters (honoris causa) award, while Mrs. Amey-Obeng received a Doctor of Humane Letters (honoris causa) award and Dr. Adjei-Barwuah received a Doctor of Laws award (honoris causa).
“Your diplomatic expertise is matched in full measure by your civic sensibility,” the citation read of Dr. Adjei-Barwuah, who was a one-time ambassador to one of the world’s most powerful countries.
“Yours is a life of commercial achievements, philanthropic accomplishment, and commitment to the advancement of the human condition, especially the girl child,” read Mrs Amey’s citation.
Prof. Emeritus Adei’s leadership influenced and achieved substantial societal benefits, according to a citation accompanying the medal.
Mr Sampong was also awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters, which was accepted on his behalf by his son, Yaw Bediako Sampong (honoris causa).
Mrs Amey-Obeng spoke on behalf of the honorees, thanking GIMPA for the honor, saying, “We don’t know exactly what you saw in us that made us more deserving of these medals than others.”
