Fetish priest’s house set ablaze over shooting incident at Barniekrom

Violence  has been reported in the Ahafo Ano South West District of the Ashanti Region, as unidentified persons have set ablaze the house of Osman Majeed, a fetish priest who is alleged to have shot dead three persons at Barniekrom.

On Tuesday, 2nd July 2024, a fetish priest, Osman Majeed allegedly shot dead three persons who he accused of attacking him.

According to sources, Osman Majeed had gone into hiding after the incident, and is still at large.

The Assemblyman for Barniekrom electoral area, Kingsley Asare, confirmed the incident to Channel One News, stating that although calm has been restored in the area, the community is still seeking reassurance from the security services.

“We have officially reported the incident to the police, and we want them to continue patrolling the area to maintain the situation,” Asare emphasized.

“Although the community has returned to normal, I still believe the security services will continue monitoring the situation at Barniekrom.”

When asked if there were any arrests made in connection with the incident, Asare replied, “Not yet, but we are working closely with the police to ensure that those involved are brought to book.”

The assemblyman’s unit committee members had visited the scene and confirmed that one of the buildings belonging to Osman Majeed had been burnt.

The motive behind the attack is unclear, but it is believed to be a reprisal for the alleged murder.

In a related development, one person who is believed to be a friend of the suspect has been arrested by the police.

The suspect’s whereabouts remain unknown, but it is expected that his arrest will provide valuable information to investigators.

“I want to assure the public that we are doing everything possible to ensure that justice is served,” said Asare.

“We want to appeal to anyone with information about Osman Majeed’s whereabouts to come forward and assist us in our investigation.”

As investigations continue, it remains to be seen whether Osman Majeed will be brought to justice for his alleged crimes.

In the meantime, residents of Barniekrom are left to pick up the pieces and try to rebuild their lives after this devastating incident.

“It’s a very sad development, and we are all shaken by what happened,” said an eyewitness who preferred anonymity.

“We just hope that those responsible for this senseless act of violence will be brought to book soon.”
