European and UK leaders unite to propose a Ukraine peace plan for the US
Keir Starmer, the British Prime Minister declared on Sunday March 2nd, 2025 that the EU officials have accepted to formulate up a Ukraine peace plan to introduce in the United States as an essential step for Washington to have the ability to provide security guarantee as Kyiv says are important to deter Russia.
During a conference in London two days after Volodymr Zelensky had a confrontation with the U.S President Donald Trump and cut short a visit to Washington, the world leaders extended solid support to the Ukrainian president and pledged to do more to give his nation a hand.
Keir Starmer said “We are at a crossroads in history today. This is not the time for more talk but it is time for us to act so that we can promote peace and unite new plans”. After the conference, Volodymr Zelensky said that “European unity is extremely at a high level not seen for decades”.
Even with Europe’s unified stance, its combined military support remains behind U.S assistance, which have slowed to a stop since President Donald Trump came to power again. The Finance Minister for Ukraine, Serhily Marchenko acknowledged the $2.84 billion defense loan by the UK as “vital” but said that “No nation individually can undertake the responsibilities of America”.
Europe, which is found wanting weapons and quantity of ammunition stocks of the U.S has optimistic expressions to convince Donald Trump that it can protect itself if Russia will stick to a peaceful deal when United States is backing.
The conference got to grips with post war visions as the leaders restated support for the eventual NATO membership of Ukraine. Ursula von der Leyen declared that “Peace is not just a ceasefire but it is rather ensuring that Russia cannot engage in this war again”.
As the meeting drew to a close, Volodymr Zelensky spoke out boldly that “Every missile we intercept, every tank we destroy, brings justice closer”. The conference that took place in London may be remembered less for its promises than alarming awareness of the fact that the road to peace grows more intense as time goes on.
