EC Chairperson Reiterates Commitment to Transparent Electoral Process

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, has reiterated her commitment to ensuring a free, fair, credible, and transparent electoral process in the upcoming December polls.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, she highlighted the importance of accepting the outcome of the elections, regardless of whether one’s political party wins or loses.
Mensa added that it is essential for political parties to take the outcome of the polls in good faith, acknowledging that there will be a winner and a loser.
“We all call on our contestants to accept the outcome of the elections because we undertake and we commit to ensuring that the elections are free, they are fair, they are credible, they are transparent,” she said.

Her comments come in the wake of two viral videos on social media that appear to show women affiliated with a political party accusing the EC of registering voters and undertaking an illegal transfer of votes.
The videos have sparked concerns about the integrity of the electoral process and raised questions about the EC’s ability to ensure a smooth and transparent election.
However, Chairperson Mensa’s reassurance has sought to allay these fears, emphasizing that the EC is committed to conducting a credible and transparent electoral process.
She urged all political parties and stakeholders to accept the outcome of the elections and work together to build a peaceful and stable democracy.
The EC has faced criticism in the past for its handling of elections, with some accusing it of bias and irregularities.
However, with less than six months to go before the polls, Chairperson Mensa’s commitment to transparency and credibility is seen as a crucial step towards ensuring a peaceful and successful election.
As Ghana prepares for its 2024 general election, Chairperson Mensa’s message is clear: that every vote counts, and every voice must be heard.
She has called on all political parties and stakeholders to respect the democratic process and accept the outcome of the polls.
With her commitment to transparency and credibility, Ghana can look forward to an election that is fair, free, and peaceful.
Chairperson Mensa’s statement is a welcome move towards ensuring a smooth and successful election in Ghana.
Her commitment to transparency and credibility has helped to alleviate concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.
