COVID-19: Ghana Extends Band On Social Gatherings By 21 Days
Ghana extends the band on social gatherings by 21 days. This was announced by the president during his 9th address to the nation. The GMA ahead of the 9th address cautioned the government not to lift the ban on the social gathering.
Adam Bonaa a security analyst reacting to the president’s address on GTV indicated that about 4% of police officers who were deployed during the partial lockdown had contracted the Covid-19 and the extension of the lockdown till the end of May 2020 was in place.

Rev Prof. Yaw Frimpong Manso, President of the Pentecostal and Charismatic Council speaking to GTV on the extension of lockdown said the council was not disappointed with the extension however churches were planning to put in place measures to ensure all protocols are observed if the lockdown had been lifted.
The daily number of COVID-19 infections in Ghana has begun to fall which is a good sign that Ghana was doing something right the president said. The WHO has there asked Ghana to reach out to other African countries to share her experience and strategies to help in Africa’s fight against Covid-19.
However, recalcitrant persons who continue to flout the protocols are being arrested and prosecuted by the police to ensure such persons do not put the populace at risk. Ghana’s recent spike in cases included some 533 cases. According to the president of Ghana, one infected person in fish factory Tema was responsible for the infection of the 533 persons.
He charged Ghanaians to ensure the new normal, which includes all safety protocols are jealously observed. The band on social gatherings continues for the next three weeks and all living in Ghana must make this work as we fight a common enemy.
