CHAN2025: Black Galaxies of Ghana Hold Nigeria’s CHAN Eagles to a Goalless Draw
All roads lead to the Accra Sports Stadium for the much-anticipated game between the Black Galaxies of Ghana and the CHAN Eagles of Nigeria for the final round of the 2025 CHAN tournament, which is expected to be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda next year. The much-anticipated game between the West African neighbors ended in a hard-fought goalless draw. The match, which was held at the Ohene Gyan Stadium in Accra, Ghana, was a crucial fixture with both teams vying for a place in the continental tournament. The match underscored the fierce rivalry between the West African neighbors.
From the start of the first half, you could clearly see that both teams approached the game well. Ghana’s Black Galaxies coach Mas UD Didi Dramani adopted a defensive setup focusing mainly on the dangerous attack of the Chan Eagles of Nigeria. You could see Razak Simpson of Nations FC doing some clearance and also winning all aerial duels at the back. The CHAN Eagles of Nigeria were willing to open the defense of the Black Galaxies through the middle but failed to capitalize on their chances.
The Black Galaxies of Ghana, headed by Coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani, were trying to open the defense of the CHAN Eagles of Nigeria down both flanks but to no avail. The wingers of the Black Galaxies could not use their chances well, missing some clear-cut opportunities that should have been registered as goals. Late substitution by the head coach of the Black Galxies of Ghana saw some decent chances being created. The introduction of Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s midfielder Emmanuel Antwi saw him play some lovely passes to the attackers. Young winger Jerry Afriyie who made his senior debut for the Black Stars on the 18th of November 2025 against Niger at the Baba Yara Sorts Stadium and also scoring his first senior goal. The youngster who plays for division 2 club Port Fc was was seen dribbling defenders to find his way into the box.
The results produced today at the Ohene Gyan Stadium in Accra means the Black Galaxies of Ghana need to get a win at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Saturday, 28th December 2024, to get a slot in the 2025 CHAN Tournament. The CHAN Eagles of Nigeria will also do anything they can to secure a win to book a place in the upcoming continental tournament. Take note that this tournament was implemented by the Confederation of African Football to help players who play in the local leagues in their various countries to showcase their talent on the world stage.
