Bawumia Chaired Ghana-EU Political Dialogue Meeting
Today in Accra, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia chaired the Ghana-EU Political Dialogue meeting which had officials of Government, EU ambassadors to Ghana and some leaders of the European Union (EU).
He deliberated on matters involving Ghana and EU future partnerships in the areas of trade and investment, security and multilateralism, growth and economic transformation, the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, digital economy, anti-money laundering/combating the financing of terrorism, and many others.
In the area of digitization, he noted how the programmes by Government such as digitization of the process in acquiring passports, driver’s license, business registration, DVLA, NHIS renewal, courts through the e-justice system, among others are helping to curb the canker of corruption.

Additionally, other anti-corruption agencies such as EOCO, CHRAJ, and the Auditor General’s Department have seen their budgetary allocations increased to enable them to carry out their mandate effectively; of course, not forgetting the significant role played by the Special Prosecutor in the corruption fight.
Dr. Bawumia further assured the EU that Government is committed to ensuring that the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections will be conducted in a free, conducive and fair atmosphere in order to build on the gains the country has achieved over the years in its democratic dispensation.
