Bawku Crisis and Insecurity Disrupts Teaching and Learning Activities

Reports from the Bawku Municipal Directorate shows that approximately 2247 pupils have been absent for a while since the most recent conflict in Bawku between the Mamprusis and Kusasis.
The level of insecurity in the municipality has discouraged a lot of teachers who had already been posted there. The conflict re-ignited in the latter days of 2021. Over 100 teachers have been transferred since then.
Other reports also suggest that 240 vacancies for teachers are still yet to be filled and the it looks to worsen with other teachers requesting transfer.
The Education office in the municipality has made efforts to better the BECE performance of students but the situation has made that difficult.
