Eric Sekou Chelle Calls for Stable Electricity For Contract Renewal

Reports emerging around the ongoing contract renewal discussions involving head coach of the Nigerian national team Eric Sekou Chelle indicate that stable electricity, along with a broad range of operational and professional requirements, has been listed as part of conditions tied to a possible extension of his deal with the Nigerian Football Federation. It is important to note that these claims remain unconfirmed, as neither the coach nor the Nigerian Football Fedreation has publicly made any statement on the matter.
According to @sportingshina, an award-winning Nigerian journalist on X, formerly known as Twitter, stated that reliable electricity tops a reported list of conditions Eric Chelle consider’s essential for creating a functional and professional working environment. The reports suggest that Chelle’s concerns are largely operational, reflecting the realities of modern football management where preparation and performance are closely linked to infrastructure and support systems.
In addition to stable power supply, the reported conditions are said to include
1. Private car (SUV) with a chauffeur and security.
2. House in a well-secured environment
3. Furnished office with projector for analysis.
4. Internet provision.
5. Flight tickets for wife and two children (Eric and wife in business class, children in economy).
6. GPS provision.
7. Supply of proper equipment in accordance with the coach’s demand.
8. Based on opponents, the coach has the right of choice regarding int’l friendly matches.
9. Camping programs.
10. The coach will initiate programs for youth development.
11. Provision for the coach to travel, watch, monitor, and engage players of the national teams abroad.
12. Provision for the coach to travel to watch the local league to identify potential players that will be integrated into the senior national team, U23, U20, and U17.
13. No interference in team selection and players’ call-ups.
14. The NFF has to issue a working contract for my staff.
15. Salary needs to be paid on or before the 30th of every month.
16. Bonus and allowance as per federation structure.
17. Request to include my PA in the bonus and allowance structure.
18. Proposed salary of $130,000.00 (one hundred and thirty thousand dollars) monthly. The amount included all his technical staff and PA.
Eric Chelle was appointed as the head coach of the Super Eagles to help them qualify for the 2026 World Cup but was knocked out from the playoffs by the Democratic Republic of Congo. After that, Eric Chelle led the Super Eagles to an impressive third-place finish in the recent African Cup of Nations tournament, which was hosted in Morocco.
