71-Year-Old Man Writes BECE Exams at Ahafo

A 71-year-old man, Kwesi Baiden, has taken the bold step of pursuing his educational dreams, writing the ongoing 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at the Ahafoman Senior High School examination center ‘B’ in Goaso, Ahafo region.
Mr. Baiden’s journey to this point has not been easy.
As a young man, he was forced to drop out of school due to financial difficulties, attending Mozama D/A School in the Central Region only to leave Junior High School (JHS) 2 without a certificate.
The COVID-19 pandemic then delayed his plans to resume his education. However, he has not let these setbacks deter him from pursuing his goals.
The father-of-four has decided to take a bold step towards acquiring vocational skills in Senior High School (SHS) and potentially continue to the tertiary level.
His motivation is not to secure a corporate job, as he has already passed retirement age, but to acquire knowledge and skills that will open new opportunities for him.
In an interview, Mr. Baiden expressed his determination to pursue his education, stating that it’s never too late to start anew.

His perseverance and determination are a testament to the importance of never giving up on one’s dreams.
As he takes on this significant milestone, Mr. Baiden’s story is a reminder that education is a lifelong process and that it’s never too late to start or continue learning.
His courage and resilience are an inspiration to everyone who has ever doubted their ability to pursue their educational goals.
