I will not protect your corrupt, arrogant legacy – Mahama to President Akufo-Addo

Former president John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed not to follow in the footsteps of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo If elected president in the next general elections.
In a social media post, Mr. Mahama stated that among other things, President Akufo-Addo will leave behind a history of corruption, misgovernance, haughtiness, incompetence, and bankruptcy, which is why he would not carry on his legacy.
The statement was made in reaction to President Akufo-Addo’s appeal for Ghanaians not to support Mr. Mahama in the upcoming presidential election, citing fear that Mr. Mahama will undo all of President Akufo-Addo’s accomplishments.
“Also, when the time is up for the voting, our job is simple. The person I defeated, my work since I took over, seems not to please him. I cannot hand over power to such a person. He will destroy whatever we have done when he comes,” President Akuffo-Addo said.
Instead, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was recommended by President Akufo-Addo to succeed him since he believes he is the most qualified to carry on the NPP’s mission.
“I am pleading with you to vote for the person I have worked with for the past seven and half years. I have faith in him and I know that he will come and continue the work I have begun,” President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo intimated.
Mahama took to social media to reply President Akuffo-Addo
“Of course, I will not protect your ‘legacy’ of corruption, misgovernance, arrogance, ineptitude, bankrupt economy, increased unemployment, and pushing more of our people into the poverty bracket,” Mr Mahama’s post said.
Ghana is set to go to the polls on December 7th to elect a new president as well as Parliamentary candidates for various constituencies in the country with many political parties and independent candidates contesting.
