School reopens Monday, academic work begins Tuesday – GES

Ghana’s Education Service (GES) in line President Akufo-Addo’s 2021 school reopening directive has said students will return to classrooms on Monday 18th January but will start academic activities on Tuesday.
The Service in a statement copied to Newsghana24.com directed that when school reopens Monday, they should use the day as a cleanup exercise day to tidy the school compounds and classrooms for the start of the 2021/2022 academic year on Tuesday.
This directive may not be used by private schools since most of them were in school on the 15th of January to clean up while others have cleaners who take care of the preparation of the learning environment for school work.
When school reopens Monday, all public schools will be expected to follow the directive from the Ghana Education Service.
“The annual event dubbed “My first day at school” will be observed to welcome children entering school for the first time on Tuesday”, it stated

The Management of GES further assured that schools have been made safe for effective teaching and learning and hence students, parents, and the general public should not panic about the spread of the virus as schools reopen.
